How Strong Can A Human Get?

So, how strong can a human get? You can train all you want, but eventually, there must be some kind of limit that prevents us humans from going all out. Bulking up doesn’t help as well.

Everyone will hit a certain point where you can no longer grow your muscles. Or at least you can say that you have reached your limit. Muscle growth is no longer in your power.

However, there’s no such thing as a specific number or a power scale where someone can stop being powerful. You see, it’s different for everybody. We’re heavily controlled by our genetics. Let’s get more information with the matter.

Learning The Basics

Before we start going crazy with the explanation, let’s kick it off with the basics. As you can see, our muscles are being watched over by a specific type of protein. This is what you call as myostatin.

Now, how is this significant? As you can see it has the power to control how big your muscles can grow. Thus, it basically has the power to put a certain limit to your strength as well.

You can bust your ass at the gym for years on end, but everyone has a muscle limit. One limitation is different from the other. The way our body and muscle grows is unique.

For instance, you might have noticed that there are just certain people who are just naturally gifted with their body? They have the genes that anyone would want to have.

The reason is more scientific than you think that it is. People and animals who have great aesthetics lack GDF-8, which has the role of creating myostatin.

These lucky people have it good, especially if they’re in the bodybuilding industry. It’s simple math: If someone lacks GDF-8, then it means they have a higher chance of building bigger muscles than those who have.

Of course, we can’t really tell if you have myostatin or not. The best way to find out is for you to start busting yourself at the gym. Going on a treadmill or a maxi climber can also help you build your physique.

Chimpanzees Are The King

How strong can a human get? Well, let’s look at these animals (chimpanzees) first. They are way stronger than humans. As a matter of fact, they are known to be at least four times stronger. Interestingly enough, we’re closely related to chimpanzees.

If that doesn’t faze you, we have 99% of their DNA – how’s that for surprising? It’s quite crazy to think that how something could be so similar to us have a huge gap in abilities.

Scientists then decided to research about the strength differences. But what shocked them the most was the result – there’s not much any significant difference between humans and chimpanzee in muscle cells.

This means human should have the same strength as the chimpanzee. Possibly even more, right? However, there’s one thing that’s stopping us from attaining our full potential.

Upon closer inspection, the scientists have found out that there are nerves to the muscle cells. And a very high-ratio one at that. They’ve concluded that the brain has the power of our strength.

The high nerves give the power to perform different tasks at the same time, and while the nerves can be a good thing, it can also change our muscular contraction. Making us lose power.

With that being said, we all have superhuman strength. But our brain decides that we don’t need to exert that much effort as conserving energy is more important.

So if you pep talk yourself when you’re doing a workout that you’re almost on the verge of giving up, it’s not really the case. Your muscles can do so much more, it’s your brain that doesn’t think that way.

For your muscle to contract, it requires electrical signals from your brain. But in a human, scientists found that your brain simply cannot produce sufficient electrical signals to contract all the muscle at once.

Mastering The Power

We’ve found out how close we truly are in achieving human strength but is it really that easy? Our brain and muscles are working hand in hand. The muscles are being controlled by the brain heavily.

Controlling the muscle groups also has its cons. In order to achieve strength, we should be able to get hold of our muscle cells and activate them as many as possible.

The bad news is that contracting muscle cells isn’t really doable for an average human. It needs to have a huge amount of electrical impulses to make this work. And apparently, the brain isn’t able to keep up with the demands.

There has been a study about this matter by Vladimir Zatsiorsky. He is a professor at Pennsylvania State University. In his research, he discovered that we can’t really tap our muscle cells to a hundred percent.

Average human beings who don’t train can only top 65% of its power. As for the professional bodybuilder or athlete, it’s possible to unlock 80% of the muscle cells.

How strong can a human get? Unfortunately, there’s no solid answer to it. Although there are a lot of people who are able to beat the average groups, we don’t have any access to valuable information that can give off the precise answer.

And we don’t think that there will ever be a specific answer to this question either. Human strength highly depends on our genes and brain apparently. While it’s true that we’re able to do more, we can’t go superhuman strength like what the Chimpanzees can.

There are a lot of variables that take place into this question. Including the aspect of not having GDF-8 makes us better athletes with great aesthetics. One thing is for sure though, our limit is all up to our brain.
